The One Side of Love

He longed for her.  She longed for freedom.  When he brushed her cheek with the backs of his fingers, she only felt the cold anger.  He lushed in all of his love for her and she only drowned in her misery.  Leaving him was inevitable.  It had to be done in order to regain herself.  For she had become nothing more than a lifeless statue, waiting on nothing.  He kissed her forehead and proceeded to her lips.  She turned her head, just slightly to make him miss.  Upon his lips was poison, the poison that could seal her lips shut.  Her eyes glared into his.  He questioned her actions as she became more distant.  She felt nothing.  There was nothing to say and only one thing to do.  She stood from where she had been sitting, next to him.  He reached out for her hand but she pulled away.  She turned and walked to the door.  Standing in the doorway, she turned to him one last time.  She smiled at him.  It was a smile he had never seen before.  A smile he did not recognize.  And in that instant, she was gone.  His life had flashed before his eyes as hers was just beginning.  And in time, both hearts would heal.  The pain would eventually become bearable.  Him, in all of his power, would never forget her.  And her, in all of her honesty, had already forgotten him.
